Fundamental health issues to be addressed, Dr. Tahir

The government was concentrating on health programme that targeted the fundamental issues of the public health and the diseases affecting masses, said Punjab Health Minister Dr. Tahir Ali Javed has said during a meeting at Punjab Health Foundation on Friday.
Dr. Tahir said the health care system needed to be refurbished and the present government was introducing reforms in health care system. “For the first time in the history of the Province, the government has provided record budget to health department whereas, unique and latest projects, about public health care system, have been launched in the Punjab. The service structure of doctors will be reorganised and the problems of junior doctors will be solved on priority basis as the junior and trainee doctors are the backbone of our healthcare delivery system at the grass root level,” he added, says the Press release.
The Health Minister said the government considered the dignity of the prestigious profession and would address the problems faced by the doctor’s community specially the junior doctors. Dr. Tahir assured the participants of the delegation his full cooperation for research facilities to the young doctors and said demands tabled before him would be resolved as well as all out cooperation would be extended to the junior and trainee doctors from the government side. He lauded the contribution of young doctors for the welfare of doctor’s community and their role in the provision of medical facilities to the end users and recommendations of the delegations would be implemented for the welfare of the doctor community.
The meeting was attended by junior and trainee doctors of the Fatima Jinnah Medical College and the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. (November 11, 2005)
