Musharraf furthering his political designs

Spokesman of Jama’at-e-Islami Pakistan has deplored that General Pervez Musharraf was portraying his rigged "victory" in the last Local Government Elections to augment his self-proclaimed "popularity".
The JI spokesman was commenting on General Pervez Musharraf assertion that the popularity of the JI could be judged from the number of seats won in the recent local body elections.
In a statement on Sunday, he said, the military dictator was using natural calamity, like October 8 earthquake, to further his condemned political designs. "The General is taking U-turn on the established principles of Pakistan’s foreign policy, like the opening of LoC and accepting Israeli aid. His dictatorial attitude has eroded army’s popularity among the masses," he added. "When the country is in need of unity, General Musharraf is busy in character assassination of the religio-political parties serving selflessly for the relief and rehabilitation of the survivors of the devastating earthquake," he stated.
The spokesman reminded President Musharraf that the so-called referendum, which gave him new ‘contract’ to run the country, was credible enough that a foreign journalist cast his votes twice in the so-called transparent referendum. "Free and fair elections under an independent election commission will expose the reality of General Pervez Musharraf’s tall claims about his popularity," he maintained.
