No national unity sans exiled leaders, Hashmi

The nation could not be united without Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, and they should be brought back to the country so that they could use their political and social influence for the welfare of the earthquake victims, said Acting President Pakistan Muslim League (N) and President Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, while talking to mediamen, after getting treatment at the Services Hospital from jail on Tuesday.
Hashmi maintained that Nawaz and Benazir would not parley with the military rulers at any level. He said Nawaz had the right to come back to the Country like he got the passport.
Hashmi said the foreign reserves of $ 12 billion should be spent on the rehabilitation and settlement of the earthquake victims, and reconstruction. He stated that no hopes should be pinned with the Donors’ Conference being held on November 19.
Hashmi was of the view that the Musharraf government had miserably failed in helping the quake-victims. “ARD has made the right decision of not attending the ‘official’ All Parties Conference, and we do not accept Musharraf as President,” he added. Hashmi averred that after the worst earthquake calamity, national leadership and solidarity were a must.
The police that pushed him to the vehicle cut his talk short.
